Brann Stadion history
Our stadium, Brann Stadion, is owned by the club. It was built in 1919, but has since been modernized several times. A new stand was erected in 2006 and opened in May 2007. The new main stand was finished only days before the opening of the 2007 season. Brann Stadion has hosted 17 Norwegian international fixtures since 1933, the first against Wales in a 2-1 defeat. Since then Norway has not lost in Bergen, and has won twelve of the seventeen international fixtures at Brann Stadion.
The current capacity is 17 800, with 17 000 seats, which leaves the capacity for European football at 17 000. Plans are made to further modernize the stadium as well as increase the capacity within the near future. The record attendance was in 1961, when 24 800 watched Brann beat Fredrikstad 4-1.
The pitch measures 105 x 68, and is surrounded by four covered stands.
Directions to the stadium
The local bus company, Tide, offers a number of services to the ground. Brann Stadion is located approximately four kilometres south of the city centre.. If you are arriving directly from the airport, some of the airport shuttle buses are an easy way to get to the Stadium. The only other options from the airport is by taxi or a car.
From the city centre you can take any bus numbered 2, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 31, and 50 heading south. All these services provide you with less than five minutes walk to the ground. Lines 20-24 also departs from the main bus station, "Bystasjonen". You may also walk to the ground, which takes about 45 minutes.
