Belgian draw in UEFA

Brann were the first team to be pulled from the sixth group of the UEFA-cup first round draw on friday, and were selected to play the strong belgian side Club Brugge, currently placing fourth in Jupiler League, the top division in Belgium. So far this season Brugge has collected three wins in the four games played.

Club Brugge has a rich history since its' founding in 1891. The side has won 36 national titles, including 13 league championships and 10 national cup victories. Brugge were seeded for the 2007/08 UEFA, and have not played any qualifying rounds to reach the first round.

Club Brugge have reached the UEFA-cup final twice in its history, both times suffering defeat to Liverpool. Brann have also played Liverpool in the european cups, and were defeated in the quarter finals in 1996 with an aggregate score of 1-4.

Brann's sportsdirector Roald Bruun Hansen is very pleased with the draw:
- This was a good draw for our club. Club Brugge is a side that we have a chance of defeating if we play our best both home and away.

- We naturally hope a sell out for the home game of this matchup. It is important for us to get good support from the home fans and create a good result before the away game in Belgium.

Club Brugge hosts its home games at the Jan Breydel Stadium, with a crowd capacity of 30 000.
